Philosophy Statement
My values and motivation with a long-term focus
The difference between success and failure is a matter of perspective. In my opinion, success is not solely result-oriented, nor is it synonymous with goal attainment. As the late George H.W. Bush once said, "The American Dream means giving it your all, trying your hardest, accomplishing something. And then I'd add to that, giving something back. No definition of a successful life can do anything but include serving others." In my mind, success has little to do with our physical actions and more to do with our mental state- our pursuit of new knowledge, willingness to grow, and desire to serve others.
I believe that with a strong community, deep-rooted sense of hope and faith, and burning desire for growth and change, anything is possible and that I have the utmost control over the legacy that I leave behind. With an intense passion for serving others
and world in which we live, I believe that making a conscious effort to make a difference is imperative. We are called to better the lives of those around us, not to selfishly improve our own. With the support of my friends and family, I am motivated and feel empowered to generate change and resolve the many social injustices that still exist in our world today. Many say that we become a product of the five people we spend the most time with, so I attempt to surround myself with respectable and inspiring individuals whom I aspire to be like.
I am driven by my goals, endless possibilities, and hope for a better tomorrow. If every day I wake up stronger and closer to my goals than how I went to bed the evening prior, I will be happy - content and at peace, radiating joy in all that I do. Because happiness is a state of mind, we must make make a choice, day in and day out, to see the best in people and make the most of our given circumstances - regardless of what is going on in our external environment.
